Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I started this book with high hopes and Garber did not disappoint. It was a fast read that was well-written. The world was absolutely enchanting. I really enjoyed reading about the magical Caraval and Master Legend. I would totally want to enter one of these games. It seems so fun.
The universe enchanted me from the first page, pulling me in with the letters. I like the way Garber wrote her characters, giving them depth. She also included the element of romance, even though it wasn't the main genre. Garber seamlessly wrote a story that enchanted readers with the world and characters while also giving them an adventure.
❝Whatever you've heard about Caraval, it doesn't compare to the reality. It's more than just a game or a performance. It's the closest you'll ever find to magic in this world.❞
This is a quote from an advanced reader's copy but it sums up the book perfectly. It was definitely more than a book. Garber used descriptive words that made it come alive in my head. It was magic. Not to mention, this was Garber's debut novel, which seems absurd to me.
Not only was it a trilogy, there was also another trilogy that was set in the same universe with some of the same characters.
I would honestly recommend this to any young readers who like fantasy but also adults. It hit the spot for YA fantasy.
Go check out Stephanie Garber's Caraval and the rest of her books too.
