Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer is a fantasy novel about a village girl and the Villain. The girl, Evie, quit her last job and sought a new one. She runs into the Villain who hires her as his assistant. The novel follows their relationship as they grow closer despite all the challenges.

Of the thousand or so books I have read, I can’t put this one at the top of my list. While having very few noticeable errors, I got a little bored. The plot was just fine, it wasn’t very eventful. The writing, on the other hand, was very good. It kept me interested even though the plot wasn’t very good. I feel like the author could work on her dialogue since it was stilted. I didn’t feel like people would actually talk like that.

I would recommend this to people who like romantasy in a modern world and betrayal.
